陈子昂的一生行迹（661-702）
陈子昂（661-702），字伯玉，梓州射洪（今四川射洪）人。少时任侠尚气，十八岁始发愤读书，文明元年（684年）进士及第，历官麟台正字、右拾遗，屡次上书直言谏政。万岁通天元年（696年）随武攸宜北征契丹，登幽州台作千古绝唱，后辞官归乡，长安二年（702年）为县令段简构陷，冤死狱中，年四十二。
射洪（661） · 射洪任侠
唐高宗显庆六年（661年），陈子昂出生于梓州射洪一个豪富之家。他少时"驰侠使气"，纵情弋猎赌博，不知读书；至十七八岁尚不知书，后慨然感悟，折节向学，谢绝门客，潜心经史百家，数年间学业大成。
金华山（680） · 射洪任侠
唐高宗永隆元年（680年）前后，陈子昂在射洪城北金华山读书台闭门苦读。他谢绝交游，耽味黄老、《周易》，兼览经史百家，历时数年，"兀然白醉"，奠定了兼综儒道的思想根基，为出蜀应试做足准备。
荆门（684） · 出蜀登第
唐睿宗文明元年（684年），二十四岁的陈子昂初次出蜀，乘船东下三峡，出荆门而望楚地。眼前豁然开朗的江汉平原，让久困蜀山的青年诗人心胸为之一壮，他写下《度荆门望楚》，随后北上洛阳应试，一举进士及第。
洛阳（684） · 出蜀登第
唐睿宗文明元年（684年），陈子昂在洛阳进士及第，拜麟台正字。时值高宗新丧、武则天临朝，他上书论灵驾西迁之非，武则天奇其才，金华殿召见。陈子昂"貌柔野而威犯"，慷慨论天下事，自此以敢谏闻名朝野。
张掖（686） · 两度从戎
武则天垂拱二年（686年），陈子昂随左补阙乔知之北征，护左豹韬卫将军刘敬同军西出河西，经张掖直至同城（居延）一带，击退突厥。塞外风沙、孤城落日，使他亲见边将无功、士卒疾苦，写下多篇沉痛的边塞诗文。
洛阳（右拾遗）（693） · 两度从戎
武则天长寿二年（693年），陈子昂迁右拾遗，成为谏官。他屡次上书，谏阻武则天营建佛寺、穷兵黩武、重用酷吏，言辞激切，"指斥时弊，皆人所难言"。武则天虽嘉其直而多不能用，陈子昂渐感失望。
幽州台（696） · 两度从戎
武则天万岁通天元年（696年），契丹李尽忠叛乱，陈子昂随建安王武攸宜北征，任参谋军事。大军驻渔阳，前锋屡败，陈子昂进谏请分兵万人为前驱，武攸宜以其"素是书生，谢而不纳"，反将他贬为军曹。陈子昂登幽州台，悲歌慷慨，涕下沾襟。
蓟丘（697） · 两度从戎
武则天万岁通天二年（697年），官军讨平契丹，陈子昂随军班师。途经蓟丘，他凭吊燕昭王黄金台、乐毅故居等古迹，作《蓟丘览古赠卢居士藏用七首》，借古伤今，自伤知遇无期，旋即决意辞官。
射洪（归乡）（698） · 冤狱长逝
武则天圣历元年（698年），陈子昂以父老多病为由辞官归乡，回到射洪金华山下，筑室著书，采药炼丹，过着亦儒亦道的隐居生活。他本欲在此整理平生著述，了却著述之志，远离朝堂是非。
射洪（冤狱）（702） · 冤狱长逝
武则天长安二年（702年），射洪县令段简受权臣指使（一说因贪陈家之财），罗织罪名将陈子昂下狱。陈家人纳钱二十万缗仍不得免。陈子昂自筮卦成，惊曰"天命不祐，吾其死矣"，不久冤死狱中，年仅四十二岁。
The Life Journey of Chen Zi'ang, Pioneer of the High Tang
Chen Zi'ang (661-702), courtesy name Boyu, of Shehong in Zizhou (Sichuan), was the pioneer who restored to Tang poetry the 'bones of Han and Wei.' A knight-errant youth who turned to the classics at eighteen, he rose to Reminder of the Right, spoke fearlessly to Empress Wu, sang the immortal 'Song on Youzhou Terrace,' and died at forty-two in a rigged prison.

- 661 · 射洪 — Born to a rich and gallant house in Shehong; a young daredevil of hunting and hazard who at seventeen turned overnight to study.
- 680 · 金华山 — At the Jinhua Mountain reading terrace he shut himself away with the classics and the Changes, building in a few years the learning of a lifetime.
- 684 · 荆门 — Sailing out of Shu through the gorges, the Jianghan plain opened before him at Jingmen — 'the mountains of Ba end; the mists of Jingmen part.'
- 684 · 洛阳 — Passed the jinshi in Luoyang; Wu Zetian, struck by his memorial against moving the late emperor's coffin, summoned him to Jinhua Hall.
- 686 · 张掖 — Marching northwest beyond Zhangye toward the deserts of Juyan, the border's suffering — generals without merit, soldiers in want — turned his pen to iron.
- 693 · 洛阳 — As Reminder of the Right he opposed the temple-building, the wars and the cruel officials — praised for courage, seldom heeded.
- 696 · 幽州台 — His plea to lead ten thousand men refused, he climbed Youzhou Terrace and wept: 'Before me no ancients; behind me, none to come.'
- 697 · 蓟丘 — At Jiqiu he mourned King Zhao's Golden Terrace and Lord Yue's house — an elegy for patrons never met — and resolved to resign.
- 698 · 射洪 — Home to his ailing father, he built a study beneath Jinhua Mountain, gathering herbs and books, done with the court.
- 702 · 射洪 — Jailed by the magistrate Duan Jian on invented charges; his own hexagram read 'Heaven does not protect me' — he died at forty-two.
'Before me I see no ancients; behind me, no one to come — alone I weep.' Thirty-six characters ended six centuries of court ornament and opened the high Tang; every great Tang voice after him — Li Bai, Du Fu, Han Yu — walked through the door he broke.
